Anti-Racism Policy
The School of Somatic Sexology is fully committed to being an anti-racism organisation. Our training follows the guidance of the Coalition for Inclusion and Anti-Oppressive Practice.
We acknowledge that racism causes significant harm and can be both conscious and unintentional. As an anti-racism organisation we challenge ourselves to understand and correct any inequities we may discover and gain a better understanding of ourselves during this purposeful process. Addressing racism requires courage, respect and compassion and may not always be or seek to be comfortable.
We resolve:
To explicitly and publicly affirm our identity as an anti-racism organisation
To employ individual and organisational exploration and examination of bias, advantage and oppression to continually learn about and dismantle racism and all its impacts
To reflect our anti-racism in the culture of our organisation through our policies, programs and practices
Diversity Policy
At the School of Somatic Sexology we are deeply committed to inclusivity.
Our purpose is to equip our students with the knowledge and skills required to effectively provide somatic sex education to people of all gender identities, sexualities, relationship structures, race and cultural backgrounds, in line with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy BACP Good Practice across the Counselling Professions 001: Gender, Sexual, and Relationship Diversity (GSRD).
We have developed our courses to exceed the requirements of the Memorandum of Understanding on Conversion Therapy V2, which states:
‘Those with a responsibility for training will work to ensure that training prepares therapists to have sufficient levels of cultural competence such that they can work effectively with gender and sexually diverse clients.’
